Bad Sport

Bad Sport 2 piece; UNIF | Boots; Nifty Thrifty | Leggings; Target

Photos by Megan Lane

These photos are kind of funny, because you can see how tan the lower half of my left arm is compared to the rest of my arm... Blame this on the fact that I have to cover my tattoos at work, so that's the only section of my arm that gets any sun. These photos are also funny because I used to absolutely detest matching clothing sets like this, but, I guess UNIF managed to change my mind on that. These were taken up in Merced when my best friend Megan and I went up to visit her sister. It was a fun little mini trip. I can never complain about trips with my best friend though.
How was everyone's Christmas?! I've probably had the best one yet this year. Life is really good at the moment, and I hope you all can share in that sentiment. I cannot believe this year is almost over, just a few more days!

Happy holidays to you all!

Slayher

Sunglasses; Cole Haan via Nordstrom Rack | Shirt and shorts; UNIF | Boots; Nifty Thrifty | Lipstick; MAC Pure Heroine

So, I'm pretty behind on posting some looks I photographed months ago now. These sunglasses are some of my favorite. Originally $130, got them for $30, hell yeah! Gotta love the deals at Nordstrom Rack. If you guys couldn't tell, I have a serious obsession with UNIF. Yeah. These vintage leather boots I got from Nifty Thrifty, and I absolutely love them. I've been wearing them more often than not since I got them. Took a few times to break them in, but now that I have, they're perfect!

What's new with you guys? Got Halloween plans?

Champagne Supernova

Shorts; Bad Vibes via Tunnel Vision | Tank; Azkara | Shoes; Nasty Gal Shoe Cult | Necklace; Vanessa Mooney | Rings; Vanessa Mooney and Modern Design

Photos by Megan Lane

I apologize for the lull in blogging, life has been pretty busy with school and work. I took a couple summer classes, which were pretty intense but fun! I'm so proud of myself, I got a 4.0 GPA for my summer semester. It's such a nice feeling, considering this was my first semester back in college after five years. Ya girl's still got it. These photos have to have been from at least a month ago now. I miss Megan. She's currently living in Arizona, and a long distance friendship with your best friend is kind of hard.
As you can probably tell, I can't get enough of Bad Vibes and their rad shorts. I have three pairs now, these ones are the Champagne Supernova color way. So gorgeous, and the most comfortable. And yeah, literally the only makeup I'm wearing in these photos is mascara. A bit different, eh?
How are things with all of you?

Backbite//Kill City

Vintage Harley Davidson Tank; Backbite | Shorts; Kill City | Boots; Kohl's | Belt; Target | Lipstick; MAC Heroine

Photos by Megan Lane

I ordered this vintage Harley Davidson crop tank from the bad ass babes over at Backbite. They have the greatest selection of vintage clothing, shoes, and accessories. Plenty of Harley Davidson tops for everyone! If you're into that sorta thing, I'd definitely recommend checking them out.

Also, check out this photo. The train conductor yelled at us, "I want in on this!" and asked Megan to take a photo of him. This is the result. I look like a promo model. Hahaha!

Have a great week!!

All photos by Courtney Coles

Mark this day in time. Thursday, February 27th, 2014, the day I fell in love with Los Angeles (who'd of thought, I used to hate the place). A day of exploring, shooting, and girl talk with Courtney. One of the best I may add. This was the one day I was in LA that is wasn't raining or overcast. Courtney is nothing but good company, and we're pretty similar in a lot of ways. Not only is she a great person, but she is an incredibly talented photographer. One of the few who still shoots with film. I'm sure I've talked about it before, but I absolutely love film photos. There's just something so raw about them. A moment captured in time, just as it was. It's not like digital, where you make all these adjustments to it in photoshop, or other photos editors. That's why I love it so much. Because it is, just as it was in that moment. It's not being romanticized or altered to try and project it in a certain light, with 5 different filters thrown over it (hi, Instagram).
This has honestly been my favorite shoot to date. So if nothing else, please, please, check out Courtney's work here.
These were all shot in Echo Park, on Sunset. Two Boots Pizza, which is the most similar I've found to the central valley's Me N Ed's Pizza (except Me N Ed's makes me sick, Two Boots didn't), was our first stop. After finishing our slices, we headed next door to Origami Vinyl, which doubles as a venue upstairs, as Courtney told me. Really rad place, honestly. Then lastly was Stories, a bookstore reminiscent of Portland. It was all just really rad. I've gotta thank Courtney for not only these amazing shots, but such a good time and being great company as well.

Cheers, y'all.

The Chain Gang of 1974

I spent a few days in LA last week, and I must say, it was probably the best trip down there ever. I got to spend a lot of time with one of my closest friends, Lacey. I went down Wednesday, during which we hung out at Venice beach and went out to dinner with another friend. Thursday, I spent part of the day with my girl Courtney, whom I ended up shooting with in Echo Park. Stay tuned for those photos soon. Went at ate at Two Boots Pizza, browsed Origami Vinyl, explored a bookstore, and talked about boys (how typical). It was a really fun afternoon. Afterward, I headed down to the Slidebar in Fullerton to see The Chain Gang of 1974 for the first time in nearly six years. Kam has come a long way since I last saw him play, and I must say, I was impressed. They just released their new album, Daydream Forever, about a month ago now, so if you haven't already, give it a listen and pick it up. Btw, thanks, Kam, for the records!
Friday I ran errands with Lacey the majority of the day, and helped her pack up her apartment for her move to Glendale. It actually rained a good majority of the day, which was sort of a pain in the ass running errands, but I always enjoy the rain nonetheless. Friday night we decided to head to The Echo to see Chain Gang play (again, for me). I thought they'd be something Lacey was into, and I sure am glad I was right.
I'm afraid I may have fallen in love with Los Angeles, and if any of you really know me, know how incredibly weird that is coming for me. I guess this trip gave me a new perspective on the city. I met so many rad people this time around, and it was nothing but good vibes the whole time. So, thanks to everyone I spent time with this time around. Until next time.

P.S. - Here is The Chain Gang of 1974's song of their new record that also appears on the Grand Theft Auto V soundtrack.
