LA Photo Diary/Week Recap

Leaving for LA selfie.

The Chain Gang of 1974

I spent a few days in LA last week, and I must say, it was probably the best trip down there ever. I got to spend a lot of time with one of my closest friends, Lacey. I went down Wednesday, during which we hung out at Venice beach and went out to dinner with another friend. Thursday, I spent part of the day with my girl Courtney, whom I ended up shooting with in Echo Park. Stay tuned for those photos soon. Went at ate at Two Boots Pizza, browsed Origami Vinyl, explored a bookstore, and talked about boys (how typical). It was a really fun afternoon. Afterward, I headed down to the Slidebar in Fullerton to see The Chain Gang of 1974 for the first time in nearly six years. Kam has come a long way since I last saw him play, and I must say, I was impressed. They just released their new album, Daydream Forever, about a month ago now, so if you haven't already, give it a listen and pick it up. Btw, thanks, Kam, for the records!
Friday I ran errands with Lacey the majority of the day, and helped her pack up her apartment for her move to Glendale. It actually rained a good majority of the day, which was sort of a pain in the ass running errands, but I always enjoy the rain nonetheless. Friday night we decided to head to The Echo to see Chain Gang play (again, for me). I thought they'd be something Lacey was into, and I sure am glad I was right.
I'm afraid I may have fallen in love with Los Angeles, and if any of you really know me, know how incredibly weird that is coming for me. I guess this trip gave me a new perspective on the city. I met so many rad people this time around, and it was nothing but good vibes the whole time. So, thanks to everyone I spent time with this time around. Until next time.

P.S. - Here is The Chain Gang of 1974's song of their new record that also appears on the Grand Theft Auto V soundtrack.

Life Update

Some random captures by the lovely Yezmene Fullilove.
Just thought I'd share some of these.

So I survived my first week of work at Revolver Hair Studio! Was beyond stoked to get the position there, as it is such a great environment. All the girls there are super sweet and a lot of fun, and the owner/lead stylist, Judith, is such a huge inspiration and a great mentor. I've learned a lot from her already. So, you all know where to come find me now if you'd like to get your hair done. :)
Also beyond stoked for next week! I'll be heading up to Seattle to visit some friends and my babe. It'll be nice to get out of California for a bit again. Anyone live up in Portland or Seattle?

Hope you've all had a great weekend!

Top; Vera Wang for Kohl's
Jeans; Askara
Boots; Kohl's

Last minute shoot with the lovely Yezmene yesterday, celebrating the almost here spring season.

I FINALLY got my arm finished. Only a year and a half later.

All thanks to my amazing tattoo artist, Andrew Thaxter. It's in the healing process, but I literally cannot stop staring at it every time I get the chance. It's beautiful, and the colors came out even better than I had imagined.

I have four weeks left of school, and then I graduate. This is all both incredibly exciting and scary. Crazy really, how fast the past year has gone by. I'm left thinking, "What's next?"

Dip Dye

Sweater; Azkara
Jeans; Azkara
Boots; Kohl's
Necklace; Forever 21
Purse; Kardashian Kollection via Sears
Turquoise rings; Vintage

Thanks to Yezmene for these photos!

Please excuse how ridiculous I look when I laugh. Yes, I got my hair cut again. My Phase Two Learning Leader at school decided to make a mini class out of it. It was driving him crazy, haha. It works out though, because it got rid of the last little bits of damaged hair I still had left, plus now it won't grow out as a huge mullet. And yes, I changed my hair color again as well. I've come to the conclusion that I don't like myself with light hair, and that I will never go blonde again. Whoops. Lesson learned.

How awesome is this sweater?! Which is crazy coming from me since I never wear sweaters... But when I saw the ombre/dip dye color scheme of it, I couldn't help myself. Plus it's really comfy, and warm. Also, these are the only pair of jeans that have ever fit me correctly. If I ever find these again, I'm buying more pairs.

I can't believe Christmas is in a week! What do you all have planned for it?

On Top Of The World

Gwen skirt: UNIF
Top; Forever 21
Leggings; Target

Thanks once again to the amazing Mariaya Lynn for these photos. These were actually for a school project of hers, which she did amazingly. The contrast of the colors between the balloons and my blue plaid skirt. Which, by the way, I am IN LOVE WITH. Unif never fails to satisfy. I just love the 90's grunge vibe it gives off, and blue is one of my favorite colors, so how could I turn this down?! I treated myself for my birthday and spent the money on it, and boy is it worth it. It's the most comfortable and warm skirt ever.
Also, how beautiful is this Fresno sunset?! (Although most of that is due to smog, uhhh). The spiral parking garage is one of the best spots for photos in the city. Especially at sunrise or sunset. You get a perfect view. Fresno can look kinda pretty from high above the city. I know it may not be most people's ideal place to live, but it's home to me, and I appreciate what I do have here.

Making Of // Art Hop

Hey guys! Here's another little insta-update on the making of this last photo shoot and Art Hop (in which one of said photos was featured). Enjoy!

Ready to head out to shoot!

Blue/fuchsia ombre nails!

Practically out in the middle of nowhere for this shoot. Lots of dirt and dust was involved.

Demi and I on our way back from the shoot!

Thursday: Ready to head out to Art Hop!

Look, it's me! Broadway Studios

Demi and I had to laugh when we saw a photo of another one of our friends featured at Art Hop. This is Kaleb.

There were bands playing all over the place at all the different Art Hop Locations.
Bad ass jellyfish/mermaid painting.

Apparently I cost $35. Haha!
Hope you all are having a great weekend!

All photos by Demi Rueda

Let me just tell you how freakin IN LOVE I am with this dress from Crash & Burn. OH MY GOD. Perfection in a dress. Crash & Burn sent me this almost two months ago, and I am just now getting around to having it shots. I had to save this for the perfect location, occasion, etc. I have worn it quite a few times since getting it. It is seriously the most comfortable dress I own, and if you know me, you know I get down with the tie dye. Seriously though, check their shiz out. All of it is just plain amazing. Thank you Demi so much for making this shoot so magical. All these shots are TOO PERFECT.
Oh, yeah, that blue in my hair.. It ain't hair dye. It's pastels. As in, that artsy fartsy upgraded version of chalk. Get the crazy colors you want, without the commitment. Just wash it out once you're done with it. If I wasn't currently trying to get this job that I don't think would be down with unnatural hair colors, I would totally dye my hair this color. But alas, I'm sticking with chalking my hair for now. It's actually really easy to do and doesn't hardly take me any time at all (then again, my hair isn't exactly long, and I'm only chalking my fringe).
Also, let me tell you how much shit Demi and I went through for this shoot. First, dodging cars while I'm trying to lay in the middle of the road. I ain't trying to get turned into roadkill any time soon. Second of.. That damn palm tree branch? Yeah, that sucker decided it wanted to drop dirt and shit down my dress. Cool, dirty boobs. Then those photos in front of the orchard/corn? Yeah, dust galore. I swear we were both caked with dust and dirt by the time we were out of there. Totally worth it though. We ended the day driving back to my place singing Cobra Starship to each other. Yeah, we're those girls (lesbehonest).

Hope you all have had a great labor day weekend!

Oh, P.S.!
One of Demi's photos from this shoot will be featured in this month's Fresno Art Hop at Broadway Studios downtown! So, if you live in Fresno, make sure to make it down there this Thursday and support all our talented local artists!
