School Uniform: Upgraded/Late Night Musings

Jacket; random boutique in Santa Cruz
Top; H&M
Floral print pants; Kohl's
Boots; Kohl's
Abalone necklace; shop in Monterey

Since joining Phase Two (Paul Mitchell's advanced classes program), I have been allowed to incorporate white into my wardrobe, along with any color shoes I want! It's amazing how being able to add in just one more color allows me to showcase my style so much better. These floral print pants are some of my favorites. Today we had a makeup speciality class specializing in the smokey eye looks. One of my classmates did mine with the help of our wonderful learning leader, Stephanie Mele, whom I adore. I always get to hear other people's ways of describing my style, and Stephanie was talking about how she'd like to do my makeup, and described my style as more "geometric" as opposed to the more "soft" look more of my fellow classmates go for. I always love hearing different people's takes on what my style is.
I've only got 9 full weeks left of school, and I could be more stoked to be finished. Going through a year straight with no breaks is exhausting, just because I'm the type of person who has to have time to themselves, or else I start going crazy. As soon as I finish, I am taking an entire week to do absolutely nothing, recuperate, and regain my sanity. I'm amazed I've done as well as I have thus far without any breaks. It's slowly starting to get to me though. Any prayer is more than welcome.

Some more late night musings.

I wonder if you think about me even half as much as I think about you. I know you used to, and now the tables have turned. I turned these tables on myself, because of the stupid decisions I made. I won't ever be able to forgive myself if I can't make things right again. I know you were meant to be in my life, yet I dug myself deeper into this ground anyway. What if that summer was all I'll ever get to experience with you? I could never forgive myself. You make me stronger and weak all at the same time. I want to feel your fingers intertwined with mine again. I will never forget the look of longing on your face, when I knew you wanted to kiss me. I will never forget the deep sadness that swept over your face, the unwillingness to let me go when I had to head 200 miles back home. I wish I'd stayed. All these moments are forever engraved into my mind, and I don't ever want to lose them. I want these feelings again, only this time I will do everything I should have been doing all along. This time, I won't let go. I don't ever want to let you go.

Dip Dye

Sweater; Azkara
Jeans; Azkara
Boots; Kohl's
Necklace; Forever 21
Purse; Kardashian Kollection via Sears
Turquoise rings; Vintage

Thanks to Yezmene for these photos!

Please excuse how ridiculous I look when I laugh. Yes, I got my hair cut again. My Phase Two Learning Leader at school decided to make a mini class out of it. It was driving him crazy, haha. It works out though, because it got rid of the last little bits of damaged hair I still had left, plus now it won't grow out as a huge mullet. And yes, I changed my hair color again as well. I've come to the conclusion that I don't like myself with light hair, and that I will never go blonde again. Whoops. Lesson learned.

How awesome is this sweater?! Which is crazy coming from me since I never wear sweaters... But when I saw the ombre/dip dye color scheme of it, I couldn't help myself. Plus it's really comfy, and warm. Also, these are the only pair of jeans that have ever fit me correctly. If I ever find these again, I'm buying more pairs.

I can't believe Christmas is in a week! What do you all have planned for it?

The Devil Is In The Details

...
Belt; Target
Leggings; Target
Shoes; Dolce Vita (c/o Marshall's)
Jewelry; All vintage gifts

My legs look so long and lovely in these photos. I swear I'm not at tall as I look (I'm a measly 5'1). Oh the illusion of angles. Mariaya took these photos, and she always does an impeccable job. Girl's got some real talent. I specifically told her, though, that she had to take a photo of me walking because I love the long, flowy back of this shirt. It's been a favorite of mine since I bought it. It's a bit baggy in my midsection, but that's nothing a cute little belt can't fix.

I've just been accepted into Phase Two, the advanced program that Paul Mitchell schools have. I'm guessing it will be pretty tiring, but totally worth it. Gotta make the most of it while I'm there. This entire year has gone by so fast. It's almost the new year, and I've only got three months of school left. We went over a bunch of the stuff we need to have/know/do for the state board test, and that's gotten my anxiety levels up already. I hate huge tests like that. I'll survive though, I suppose. One of my learning leaders has been suggesting I go for dean's list too. Whole hell of a lot more work, but I feel like it's pretty typical of me to go for something like that. I don't know. I'm not quite thinking clearly tonight.

I hope you all have started off your weeks well!

Hunger Games Makeup Inspo!

Vanessa, Lulu, Ruthie, Jess, and I in our Hunger Games styles!

So last week at my school, Paul Mitchell, we had a Hunger Games inspired fashion show. The lovely Sydney Faye (in the first photo with me) did my makeup! When she was finished, I looked in the mirror and honestly didn't even recognize myself! She's so incredibly talented. It was quite the process (took at least an hour for all of this makeup), but so totally worth it! What do you all think?

Retro

Bell bottoms; Forever 21
Top; Forever 21
Shoes; Dolce Vita via Urban Outfitters
Turquoise choker & watch; vintage from grandmother
Obsidian arrowhead necklace; made by Demi
Crescent quill necklace; c/o My Salvation

So, the other day I decided to wander around Forever 21, and found myself in the sale section, all of which was buy one get one free. I came across a gorgeous tie dye dress (which you will see in another post), and then knew I had to bust a mission to find another piece for free. The sale sections there were so huge it nearly gave me an anxiety attack. I picked up a few pieces I thought could be possibilities to try on. Right as I was about to head to the fitting room, my eyes caught sight of these AMAZING bell bottoms. I saw them, and knew it was over. HAD. TO. HAVE. I have a slight obsession with bell bottoms. I immediately knew I'd have to pair it with a black band tee to add to the retro vibe, and this Pink Floyd fringed top was the perfect choice. And of course.. I HAD to pair this with my Dolce Vita platforms. Retro perfection!

Taking these photos was not exactly the easiest task ever. I wanted to use more of the fence as a backdrop, but the neighbor's dogs would NOT SHUT UP. One of them kept poking it's head through a hole in the fence. Way to ruin it, dogs.

Anyway, I've been keeping pretty damn busy with school and volunteer work at Kuppajoe. Things are overall going well. I'm yet again disappointed in humanity though. Saturday, my mom came in to my school (Paul Mitchell, for those of you who don't already know) so I could cut her hair. Within the time I was cutting her hair, someone managed to steal my doll head stand. WHY?! It's sad that we can't even trust anyone within our own school with our belongings. This isn't the first time it's happened either. I've had friends get their stands, scissors, and other tools stolen. Why, people? It's rather sad. I just don't understand the mindset or lack of conscious of some people.

Sigh.

P.S. - Some of the girls at school have started calling me "Combat Barbie". I am ever so slightly tempted to change my blog name to this. What say you?

Little Mermaid

As you all know, I'm attending Paul Mitchell Beauty School. Today we had a fashion show/contest, and I volunteered to be one of the models. The theme was "Under The Sea." Literally everyone went the mermaid route. Here's the makeup everyone did on me.

Yes, those are indeed scales on my face. I absolutely love what they did with my lips, the gold tone is amazing!

Skirt; I don't even know, I was digging through drawers and found it
Bandeau top; Forever 21
Turquoise choker; vintage

I figured since my makeup was mermaid themed, I'd stick with something flowy on the bottom (come in this skirt) and a bikini type top. I had been browsing through Forever 21 and immediately fell in love with the patter and colors of the bandeau. I couldn't pass on it. I am also so incredibly stoked because my grandmother gave me her entire collection of turquoise jewelry!!! And if you know me, you know I'm obsessed with everything turquoise. I have seriously been wearing at least one of the turquoise pieces everyday. I can't get enough!

I'm also waiting to get photos back from a couple of shoots I had last weekend. Incredibly stoked to see them! So much so that I'm getting impatient, haha.
Hope you all are having a great weekend!

Mix Tape Parties & Paul Mitchell

Vintage Gloria Vanderbilt shorts; The Laundry Room
Leggings; Azkara
Pink Floyd fringe top; Forever 21
Belt; Target
Rings; Vintage turquoise, Ooh La La, Princess Diana ring
Chain necklace; Ooh La La

Can I just start off by saying my classmates and learning leader did an amazing job on my hair! Went for a more feminine version of the faux hawk. Went to Fresno's annual Mix Tape Party IV Friday night, and nobody recognized me at first with this over the top up do. Someone even told me I look like Rooney Mara (win!). It was super cold and rainy Friday, and I've already forgotten how to dress myself for cold weather.. So I went with my warmer weather outfit and just added leggings and a jacket, hah. Been listening to Pink Floyd a lot lately, and as you may already know, I am completely obsessed with fringe, so this top was a must have. I also decided to add on to my shorts and put studs along the top of the left pocket (another thing I'm obsessed with). And as always, I'm piling on the jewels. Also, please ignore my messy room and the fact that I need to touch up my roots.

Hope you all are having a great weekend!
