Cropped Angles

Sandals; Urban Outfitters | Crop top; The Laundry Room | Shorts; DIY | Ring; Vanessa Mooney

Angles are deceiving. I'm not as tall as I look here (sometimes I wish I was, haha). But, this gray crop and the black lipstick have become my new favorite combo. I think I need to invest in some more gray shirts now. Also, I'm pretty stoked with how long my hair is getting. This is the longest it's been in years!! Let's see how much longer I can keep up with it before it becomes too much for me, haha.

See ya!

Summer Summer

Top; H&M | Shorts; PacSun DIY

Summer is definitely here in California. Today is the first day of June. Looks like I'll be spending most of my summer working, and taking a few classes. Yeah, I've decided to finally go back to college after five years. This should be interesting.

DIY & Spring Time!

What a blessing it is to live in California, with this wonderful weather. Not having to deal with the polar vortex here is pretty awesome. It was a bit windy this day (as I'm sure you can tell in a few of these), but the weather was wonderful nonetheless. I love shooting with my best friend. She gets better with it every time. If I'm being honest, this crop top was a bit out of my comfort zone. I usually wear crop tops that aren't so... Cropped. These shorts I got from Pac Sun a couple of years ago, but I hated the colors. White and pink. So, I decided to try dip dying them. I folded them in half and dyed the middle black (which ended up turning out gray, but I'm liking the effect anyway). Then one side purple, and the other blue. I'm really loving how they came out.
So I have started applying for jobs... In LA. Yeah. I think it's time I just throw myself out there and get out of Fresno, and living at home. Not going to lie, I'm absolutely terrified, but, it's time. If I don't push myself, then who will? I have applied for some pretty cool jobs there though, so prayers and good vibes would be appreciated. I'd be pretty stoked if I could land one of these.

Hope you all have wonderful week!

Dark Casual

Shorts; DIY | Muscle tank; Forever 21 | Boots; Kohl's

So, this is a pretty casual, daily outfit for me. More on the dark/grunge side of my casual, instead of the more feminine side. I reworked these shorts myself last summer, and still love them. The shorts themselves, I'm pretty sure I've had since high school. And they're slightly big on my waist...
Anyway, I've also gotten a new tattoo! Thanks to Andrew Thaxter for another gorgeous piece. He pulled off this golden eagle incredibly well, as I knew he would. The banner reads "Isaiah 40:31.

Isaiah 40:31: "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

Told you I'd be back.

Cat Shirts, Short Hair, & The Radiance Effect

Pants; H&M
Top; c/o The Radiance Effect (thanks again Corey!)
Boots; Kohl's
Turquoise choker/rings; Vintage

First off.. I really, really, REALLY miss my longer, healthy hair. PLEASE GROW FAST!!! I mean, I know I didn't have much of a choice, as I gave myself a chemical cut, and I know me rocking short hair is nothing out of the norm, but.. I really do miss having a bit of length on the sides. Sigh. Now I wait (not so) patiently for it to grow out again.
Secondly, I must thank my good friend Corey Martin, musician and frontman extraordinaire of the band The Radiance Effect, for giving me this t-shirt! If you know me, you know I love cats. I did DIY the shirt a bit, and cut off the sleeves and collar to make it more of a muscle tank. Be sure to check out The Radiance Effect, and you can download their new album for free here.
Corey is actually launching a new band, Storm Circus, on September 1st with other members of  The Radiance Effect, so be sure to be on the lookout for that!

Summer Has Arrived

Shorts; DIY
Bralette; Forever 21
Turquoise choker, rings, hand chain; Vintage
Crescent quill necklace; c/o My Salvation Jewelry

So you guys may notice a few things here. Beauty school finally got to me, and I have changed up my hair color with the reverse ombre! Red on the top, and my ends are still black. I had honestly missed having red hair so much, I'm glad to have brought it back. Also, I repierced my nose! Seriously in love with having a nose ring again, I'm not sure why I ever took it out.

So, summer has definitely arrived here in central California. Triple digit weather. Blah! I've never dealt well with hot summers, and I've lived here all my life! I've learned how to keep fashionably cool though. These are one of my favorite pairs of shorts, which I DIY'd to death. Bleach, dye, studs. Then this black lace bralette I found at Forever 21. Definitely does the trick. I have also been incredibly stoked with the fact that my grandmother has given me here entire collection of turquoise jewelry. I am obsessed! This turquoise collar and the hand chain are my absolute favorite pieces. Also, please note this beautiful crescent quill necklace by My Salvation I got via Casey's blog. I love this necklace so much that I have literally been wearing it everyday since I got it in the mail! I would highly suggest checking out My Salvation, as all her pieces are beautiful and one of a kind. I'm greatly tempted to buy everything on their online shop. It's love at first sight!

Tough Girl

Dress; thrifted
Abalone necklace; gift
Tights; DIY
Vest; Azkara
Stone bracelet; Target
Turquoise rings; vintage
Boots; Kohl's
White pyramid ring; The Laundry Room
Spike ring; Foxhouse

Photos by Virginia Maciel

So my friend Virginia contacted me to do a shoot with her, and asked my to dress like a punk rocker. I decided to add my own little girly, yet tough look. I found this gorgeous dress at Goodwill for only $2, and couldn't pass it up. One of the hems was completely torn though, so I hand sewed it back together (I think my first time really sewing anything.. Yay me!). To toughen it up, I added the faux leather vest, shredded tights, boots with chains, and the spike ring from Foxhouse, which I absolutely love. That abalone necklace is one of my favorite pieces that I own right now. My grandparents got it for me while they were on vacation in Monterey. My family kicks ass.

Thanks again to Virginia for these beautiful shots!

P.S. - Vote this look on Chictopia please? <3

Party Rockin'!

Top; Thrifted
Shorts; DIY
Lace bells; Urban Outfitters
Belt; Target
Shoes; Dolce Vita via Urban Outfitters

So today at Paul Mitchell we had one of our special dress days. Today's theme was "Party Rock." Needless to say, bright colors were a must. Paired with these lace bell bottoms.. Perfection. I feel like it's almost slightly disco-y. But I dig it, and most everyone else did as well. I also decided to try something new with the makeup, and went with a Twiggy inspired look paired with my usual eye makeup ritual.

On another note, a friend and I were talking today about how cynical I am about society as a whole, and how we should really make an effort to be kind to everyone. Something I should most definitely work on, as my tolerance for people has decreased greatly over the past years. Guys, keep me in check!

Hope you're all having a great week!
